Foundation

The Orchard Library Foundation was established in the spring of 1996 to solicit, receive and manage donations, bequests, grants, etc. for the benefit of the Orchard Public Library. The foundation is a Nebraska non-profit corporation and is recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a 501(c)(3) organization. The foundation is managed by a nine-member Board of  Directors.
Since the foundation was established it has provided funds for several projects at the Orchard Public Library:  Matching funds for a grant for children's books from the Libri Foundation, an outdoor book drop, the renovating and furnishing of a new multi-purpose room from what was a garage, matching funds for a grant from the Northeast Library System for a set of encyclopedias and matching funds for several computers, microfilm scanner/reader, and the computerized card catalog and circulation system.

Donations to the Orchard Library Foundation are tax deductible and may be sent to the Orchard Library Foundation, POB 317, Orchard, NE  68764 or left at the library. There are always items needed at the library that aren't always able to be included in the budget provided by tax funds, one large item being the replacement of computers as the current systems get older.
